Real-World Applications of JavaView

The following real-world applications make use of the flexible and open interfaces provides of JavaView. JavaView may be used as a visualization front end for web-services, as a geometric software library used in custom software, or for the production of online publications including mathematical experiments and visualizations.

	EG-Models Archive is a peer-refereed digital journal for the publication of the electronic geometry models. Preview of models with embedded JavaView-Lite applets. JavaView's XML based file format allows automatic validation of submitted geometry models.
	Plus Magazine launched a series Imaging Maths. Plus is an internet magazine for mathematics published by the University of Cambridge. Plus won the prestigious Webby award. (26) Inside the Klein Bottle (27) Unfolding Polyhedra
	The Gallery of Famous Surfaces by Xah Lee and the 3D-XplorMath Surface Gallery by Richard Palais are two wonderful collections of classic and modern differential geometric surfaces. Most of the examples include detailed explanations on the mathematical background, additional to the interactive viewing experience.
	JSwallow by Biomed Software Tübingen uses JavaView to display the peristaltic wave in the esophagus during swallows, as recorded by high-resolution manometry with 32 pressure sensors arranged in a catheter. It can be used as a diagnostic tool to assess gastro-esophageal acid reflux (GERD, heartburn) and dysphagia (difficulty or discomfort in swallowing). The program was developed in cooperation with the Department of Gastroenterology of the UniversitätsSpital Zürich and is installed in the intranet of the hospital to visualize more than 6000 swallows.
	Function Plotter is a web-service implemented by the Multimedia Kommunikationssysteme GmbH in Hagen. The site uses a MuPAD server for calculation and JavaView as a configurable online display.
	Honey Bees in an Observation Hive: Research study of the population biology of honey bees at Rhodes University in Grahamstown, South Africa. The JavaView algorithm for computing discrete geodesics was applied to the computation of geodesic distances in an observation hive between worker bees and the queen.
	Knot Plot Server computes Knots, Braids and unknotted geometries. The Knot Server by Robert Scharein uses JavaView for the online display of knots computed with KnotPlot.
	The project Auto-Opt at the Frauenhofer Gesellschaft uses JavaView as a visualization tool in the process of interactive design and numerical optimization of automobiles.
	Gallery of Surfaces is a collection of constant mean curvature surfaces produced by Ian McIntosh at the University of York. JavaView displays the output of experiments run using CMCLab and MinLab.
	Constant Mean Curvature Noids found by Nick Schmitt and computed with Noid, a Java software package to compute n-noids, constant mean curvature (CMC) genus-zero surfaces with asymptotically Delaunay ends. Nick's applet uses the open API of JavaView to integrate the viewer with the Noid package.
	Polymake is a software package for discrete geometry and convex polytopes which uses JavaView as its viewer.
	AniKa is a JavaView based applet by Marcus Engel from Erlangen to create and animate kaleidocycles. Kaleidocycles are flexible chains of tetrahedra and were discussed in the book "M.C. Escher Kaleidocycles" by Schattschneider/Walker. The flexible polyhedra also appear in discrete versions of the smoke ring flow.
	Music applets at Geometry Unheard Of combine mathematical music theory and geometry. The applets by Thomas Noll and Mona Brand make use of the open API of JavaView in combination with third-party sound toolkits.
	Visual Geometry Pages is a collection of online JavaView applets on topics from differential geometry. Interactive experiments and visualization for research and education.
	Dissertation Online: Research project founded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) produced a reference online dissertation in Mathematics with JavaView.
	Games Entertaining mathematical games on geometric problems
